Pentapharm products – our contribution to address diagnosis of hemostasis
Hemostasis is the natural system in our body to stop bleeding in case of an injury. Roughly speaking, there are three stages involved in the process:
1. Primary hemostasis – it is the initial stage of the body stopping leakage from blood vessels; and involves the processes of vasoconstriction, blood cell (platelet) adhesion and platelet aggregation.
2. Secondary hemostasis – it is the stage following primary hemostasis; with activation of enzymes (coagulation factors) as illustrated in the coagulation cascade, resulting in the formation of fibrin.
3. Lysis – it is part of dissolving the fibrin clots
